SRG Global has impressed GFG Liberty OneSteel with its capability and performance in recent months, setting it up for a long-term contract at the Whyalla Steelworks in South Australia.
The contract win is effective for an initial four years, with options to extend for a further two years.
SRG will provide refractory services throughout the Whyalla site, incorporating the pellet plant, ironmaking, steelmaking and steel products assets.
The contract award at Whyalla will complement existing works being undertaken by SRG Global’s mining services division, which has been operating in the region since 2012.
OneSteel is GFG Alliance’s global steel manufacturing arm and the only manufacturer of steel long products in Australia.
Works under the contract are expected to generate revenue of around $45 million over the six-year term, or $30 million over the initial four-year term.
“We are extremely pleased that SRG Global has been awarded this long-term contract,” SRG Global managing director David Macgeorge said.
“It highlights our depth of experience in complex asset services and is further evidence of the diverse capabilities we offer as a combined entity. We look forward to working closely with our new partner, OneSteel.
“The contract award is significant in that it aligns with SRG Global’s long-term strategy of securing a greater proportion of recurring revenue contracts in the asset services sector.”
SRG also secured an initial three-year, $32 million asset services contract with South32 Worsley alumina earlier this week.
