Sedgman wins Red Mountain CHPP contract extension

Sedgman has won an extension to its Red Mountain Joint Venture coal handling and preparation plant contract in the Bowen Basin.

The Red Mountain JV is an operation between Peabody’s Millennium coal mine and BHP Mitsui’s Poitrel coal mine to share coal infrastructure.

The total contract value is worth approximately $90 million over the life of the agreement.

Under the three year contract extension, Sedgman will continue to operate and maintain the CHPP, which is designed to process around 1000 tonnes per hour.

Sedgman CEO Nick Jukes welcomed the contract, stating that “the Red Mountain site is an excellent example of an efficiently run operation”.

It has operated the CHPP since 2007.
