Sedgman has been appointed as the preferred contractor for Guyana Goldfields’ operations.
The contract will see it provide engineering, procurement, and the construction of a new processing plant and power plant at Guyana Goldfields’s Aurora Gold project.
It will be delivered by Sedgman’s GSJV joint venture with Grana y Montero.
The contract is worth around $137 million, and includes the process plant, power station, and integration management of the balance of scope of works.
Nick Jukes, Sedgman’s MD, said “the selection of the GSJV as GGI’s preferred contractor was further evidence of the success of Sedgman’s strategic diversification by commodity and geography”.
“The Aurora project is the second large gold processing plant project that Sedgman has successfully tendered for during 2013 and is an important milestone in the continued development of our Americas region,” he added.
The Aurora gold mine has an estimated reserve of 6.54 million ounces.
