Sedgman appoints new CEO

Sedgman has appointed Peter Watson as its new CEO and managing director.

Watson, who will step into the role on 1 June, was previously Sedgman’s regional director responsible for WA, Africa, and the Americas.

Commenting on the appointment, Sedgman’s chairman Russell Kempnich said “Peter understands the Sedgman business and our strategy”.

“His depth of experience and proven leadership in running both our Australian and international regions over the last four years provides a strong foundation.”

Prior to joining Sedgman in 2010, Watson was a general manager at AMEC, focusing on the resources sector across eastern Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, and was also a member of the senior executive team at Thiess.

Kempnich went on to say that “to ensure a seamless transition a comprehensive handover process will occur during May and (former CEO) Nick (Jukes) will remain available to assist until his retirement at the end of June”.
