West Australian police have called off the search for a married couple who were last known to be prospecting near Table Top, days after finding human remains in an abandoned mineshaft.
Extensive ground and air search efforts were unable to reveal any clues to the whereabouts of Raymond and Jennie Kehlet (47, 49)
The Kehlets have been missing for close to three weeks, last seen on March 22, and authorities were alerted to the need for a search after the couple’s dog appeared in Sandstone one week after they were last seen.
Australian Mining undertstands the missing couple are FMG employees.
Authorities were able to take information from the dog’s microchip to contact relatives in Beverly and find out the movements of the dog’s owners.
Police discovered skeletal remains near Sandstone and soon ascertained that they were not linked to the search.
WA Police have said inquiries will continue.
