Sweden-based Sandvik Mining and Construction has received a contract with a major Chinese gold miner to supply mining machines.

Under the new contract, worth CNY66 million (~AUD9.9 million), Sandvik will supply 20 machines including drill rigs, loaders and trucks to three of Shandong Gold’s mines in the Shandong province.

The fleet deliveries for the equipment are scheduled to take place before the end of 2012.

“Sandvik was initially selected as we demonstrated a low risk option, an excellent understanding of their operations and the ability to deliver on all the required machines and services,” said Schubert Huang, general manager of hard rock mining and vice president of Sandvik Mining and Construction Region EAS. “This is a win-win and we look forward to our continuing relationship with Shandong Gold.”

The contract represents the largest single order ever for the mining units in China, according to Sandvik.
