Rio Tinto has appointed former BHP Billiton CFO Chris Lynch to its board.
Lynch joins the company as a non-executive director.
He previously worked for BHP Billiton over several years, as a chief financial officer, executive director, and then group president of carbon steel materials.
Prior to this he spent two decades at Alcoa.
Lynch is currently the CEO of Transurban Group.
Rio chairman Jan du Plessis stated that he is “delighted that Chris Lynch is joining the board. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the mining and metals industry”.
du Plessis went on to say that Lynch’s appointment signifies the importance of Australia to Rio Tinto’s global operations.
