Shares in gold miner Regis Resources were placed in a trading halt yesterday as the company plans to make an announcement about its rain-affected Duketon project in Western Australia.
The Duketon Gold Project, located in the Laverton region 350 kilometres north-north east of Kalgoorlie, has experienced heavy rainfall in recent weeks.
Within the project area is the Moolart Well Gold Mine and the Garden Well Gold Mine producing in excess of 300,000 ounces of gold per annum
The West Australian reports the area received 33mm of rain in 24 hours on Thursday.
Shares in mining contractor MACA were also placed into a trading halt.
Heavy rainfall has affected many mining operations in the goldfield are in recent weeks.
In late January South African miner Gold Fields stopped work at its St Ives operations near Kambalda while Newmont’s Granny Smith, Agnew, Lawlers and Darlot mines in the northern Goldfields were only running milling operations for a number of days.
KCGM also closed some areas of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's Super Pit due to heavy rain.
