Red carpet rolled out in Perth for film premiere

The star of a new Australian feature film walked the red carpet in Perth at the premiere of his new movie last night; using all four of his legs.

Koko the kelpie stars as the infamous dog who roamed the Pilbara mining sites in the 1970’s in the new movie, Red Dog.

The national debut of Red Dog was held in Karratha on Wednesday night, and as is protocol with major movie stars, Koko was then straight on a plane heading to another premiere.

But Red Dog producer and Koko’s owner, Nelson Woss told The West Australian Koko was no pampered pooch.

Unlike many stars, Koko was happy to travel in what Woss described as “cattle class” and rather than demanding thousands of flowers, a designated straw holder for his drinks or all-white furniture, all the four legged star wanted was “a long walk and a feed.”

Josh Lucas and Rachael Taylor, Koko’s co-stars in the film were unable to attend the screening in Perth due t filming commitments in the United States.

Koko’s screen test became a YouTube snensation and Woss said it is a perfect example of the dog’s personality.

Red Dog opens next Thursday.
