The Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition has begun today in Mackay.
The biannual event is the largest one yet and has seen more than 650 exhibitors gather to show the latest technology, equipment, and services for the mining industry.
Year on year the event is 20% larger and covers more than 3000 square metres, Reed Mining stated.
Exhibition spokesperson Patrick Bell told Australian Mining that the event has drawn so much attention that it pre-bookings for the next QME in 2014 are already at 40%.
Like previous years the majority of the event will take place undercover, and exhibition director Paul Baker is expecting huge crowds.
"There'll be long queues so we encourage people to register online," Baker said.
