A Queensland mining services contractor in the Bowen Basin has achieved a 15,000-hour life from its Topy Hitachi wheels before they reached section replacement.
The achievement is 5000 hours longer than the average offer with lower upfront cost, according to Topy agent Bridgestone Mining Solutions Australia (BMSA).
BMSA senior specialist wheels Jonathan Huntley said historical data showed that an average life before scrap or section failure on standard demountable EH3500/4000 rim assemblies was 10,000 hours.
“This solution is not only providing cost savings, but time savings onsite with the only specifically designed EH3500/4000 rim to avoid bead seat hang up, Hitachi’s (Original Equipment) choice,” Huntley said.
“High-performance repairable rims are an astute, value-for-money choice over ‘disposable’ ones that are scrapped to avoid repair.”
The Queensland contractor achieved 30,000 hours out of the same rim base with one double section replacement.
Topy Wheels produces a range of rims to meet the demanding needs of the mining industry. BMSA unlocks the value of the wheels with its management and repair system.
BMSA maintains a wheel engineering facility in Mackay providing quality repair and maintenance services to the Queensland region.
