PYBAR makes preparations for worker recovery

The Henty site.

PYBAR Mining Services has sourced specialist equipment to recover a missing worker at the Diversified Minerals-operated Henty gold mine in Tasmania.

The equipment has been sourced externally and is either at site or on route to the site.

The equipment includes an engineered underground loader retrieval system from Newcastle, a robotic mini excavator and installation equipment for the retrieval system.

PYBAR has welcomed specialist personnel to assist the site team and formulate plans for the recovery of the worker and the loader.

The site team continued to prepare the area for recovery operations under the supervision of the Tasmanian State Coroner and regulatory bodies.

“Recovery operations were again the focus of activity at the Henty gold mine over the last 24 hours,” PYBAR stated.

“A full briefing on the status of the recovery operations was delivered at the town hall (yesterday) by the Henty mine general manager, Dion Alford.

“The briefing was open to all Henty gold mine personnel and was extremely well attended. The briefing was also attended by (the victim’s) family, and we continue to update them on recovery activities at the mine.”

Operations at Henty remain suspended and PYBAR continues to provide on-going counselling for those who have been affected by the incident.
