Pybar commits to Henty recovery operation

Pybar Mining Services has made progress in its recovery operation to retrieve a missing worker from the Diversified Minerals-owned Henty gold mine, despite its first attempt being unsuccessful.

The first recovery attempt involved a loader retrieval system to complete the operation.

Pybar chairman Paul Rouse and Diversified Minerals chief executive Nick Woolrych were on site for the first attempt and continued to provide support to the missing worker’s family.

According to Pybar chief executive Brendan Rouse, the specialist recovery and site teams remain committed to achieve a successful result.

“This is a disappointing outcome, but the team on site has done, and continues to do, everything possible to recover (the worker),” he said.

“All personnel on site are being carefully managed to prevent fatigue and ensure their safety at all times. We will continue with the recovery efforts.”

Pybar has combined their efforts with Tasmanian police and the coroner during the recovery process.

Operations at the Henty gold mine have remained suspended.
