The 2022 Prospect Awards are set to be a major event in November, with more opportunity than ever to celebrate the talents of the industry.
Set to be held in Perth for the first time, the 2022 event will feature five new or updated awards. Each award focuses on a different aspect of the mining industry, such as environmental sustainability or an exceptional discovery or performance.
The Discovery of the Year Award is among the new categories. Proudly sponsored by Bonfiglioli, this award celebrates a significant discovery at either a greenfields or a brownfields site.
A greenfields site is an underdeveloped area within or outside of a city. It typically sits on agricultural land and offers uncomplicated and straightforward construction for mine sites.
Brownfields sites, which are classified as having been previously developed but are not currently in use, take longer to develop.
To meet the award criteria, the discovery can be anything from platinum group elements to iron ore and copper, but it must have been made or recognised as significant for the broader Australian industry within two years of the nominations’ closing date of August 24.
The past two years have proven to be incredibly beneficial in Australian mining discoveries and this category exists to celebrate those involved and the positive impacts the discovery has on the industry.
The 2022 Prospect Awards will be held in Perth in November. The awards are being held in Western Australia for the first time to acknowledge the vibrancy and importance of the state’s thriving mining industry.
