In the wake of the death of a mine worker at the Cadia Ridgeway mine, Newcrest has announced a restart to production.
Production was suspended on Sunday 6 September after a 28 year old mine technician was fatally injured when struck by a piece of machinery.
The man was found pinned between a machine and the side wall of an underground tunnel, having been operating a shotcrete machine that was modified to direct high pressure water at rock hung up in a stoping area.
Newcrest said today that production will resume at Cadia East over the next coming days, however the Ridgeway mine remains suspended.
