Primary Gold has confirmed Hampton Mining and Civil as the preferred contractor for the development of its Coolgardie project in Western Australia.
The gold developer, which recently released a pre-feasibility study (PFS) for Coolgardie, is planning to launch mining at the operation this quarter.
Hampton, the mining division of Hampton Transport Services, will undertake drill and blast, and excavations of the project’s three open pits – MacPhersons, A-Cap and Tycho.
The contractor will also establish underground portal positions in each pit to cater for potential underground entry.
In addition, Hamptons will be responsible for development of site foundations, such as the workshop, and haulage of ore to the mill for treatment.
Primary managing director Garry Mills said the company was excited to have an experienced contractor like Hamptons working with it on the development of the Coolgardie project.
“We have recently completed a highly encouraging PFS and subject to receipt of necessary approvals look forward to commencing mining at this project in the current quarter,” Mills said.
The Coolgardie PFS estimates that 65,000 ounces of gold will be produced at the operation over an initial 28-month mine life.
