Outotec has acquired the furnace refractory demolition company Kiln Services Australia.
The acquisition was officially completed on 9 December.
Both parties have declined to disclose the purchase price.
According to Outotec, this move is part of the company’s expansion of its shutdown services to the mining, metals processing, and refractory industries.
It said acquired the business due to its specialised robotic refractory demolition equipment and related know how.
"This acquisition will expand our offerings and strengthen our capabilities to provide furnace shutdown services to our customers in the South East Asia Pacific region," Outotec CEO Pertti Korhonen said.
He went on to say that "our target is to grow our annual services sales to $655 million by 2015".
Outotec is reportedly aiming to double its size in the Australian and South East Asia Pacific market over the next three years.
