NT opens door to China

THE Northern Territory Government is pushing for foreign investment in the mining sector

THE Northern Territory Government is pushing for foreign investment in the mining sector.

The Territory Government has signed an agreement with the China Mining Association to attract Chinese companies to open new mines in Australia.

The deal was signed during a mining summit in Beijing, and the Territory Government will provide mining research to potential foreign investors, under the agreement.

Territory Mines Minister Chris Natt says two Chinese companies have expressed interest in doing business in the Territory.

“Both are new companies that knew little about the Northern Territory,” he said.

A large Chinese steel manufacturer is expected to visit Darwin in the next few months.
