NRW wins Rio Tinto contract

NRW has won a $30 million contract for earth and civil works at Rio Tinto’s Yandicoogina mine.

The work at the Yandi Oxbow project is focused on sustaining current production at the Yandi mine, and includes the construction of a 4.5 kilometre haul road; construction of a heavy vehicle bridge over the existing railway; more than 700,000 cubic metres of embankment construction; more than 3200 lineal metres of culverts; and upgrades, re-routing, and extensions to existing light vehicle access roads.

The contract is slated to run for 38 weeks, and begin on site late next month.

At its peak more than 130 workers will be needed for the project.
