NRW secures Roy Hill contract

Mining contractor NRW Holdings has secured a $67 million contract to complete earthworks and piping at Gina Rinehart’s Roy Hill iron ore project.

Roy Hill is located 115 kilometers north of Newman in Western Australia.

The contract also includes drill and blast operations.

The works are expected to take about seven months to complete with a peak workforce of 160 people.

Roy Hill is expected to come online in 2015.

Earlier this month Australian Mining reported Decmil had been awarded contracts worth $71 million for the design, civil engineering and construction of rail and port facilities for the miner, as well as the associated infrastructure.
