Normet announces new Australia managing director

Underground construction and mining technology company Normet announces two key appointments to their Australia operations.

Kari Hamalainen, VP Asia-Pacific announced that Neil Fitzmaurice will be the new Managing Director in Australia while John Gelson has been appointed Manager, Ground Control and Construction Technologies. Fitzmaurice will report to Kari Hamalainen and Gelson to Fitzmaurice.

Neil Fitzmaurice:

Fitzmaurice has extensive experience within the Asia Pacific region with stints in Japan, Singapore, China and Australia. A chemicals industry specialist for over 30 years, he has worked in senior management roles, and was previously employed with a major chemicals manufacturer/supplier as head of the mining business in Australia.

John Gelson:

Associated with the mining and tunnelling industry for over 39 years in various capacities, Gelson worked as an Underground Mine Manager and Deputy Mine Manager in the UK before moving to Australia where he was the Manager for Mining Services with a mining contractor. He subsequently moved to a leading chemicals manufacturer/supplier, working in the underground construction sector in Australia as well as the Asia-Pacific region.

The two new appointments will strengthen Normet’s Australia operations as well as the Asia-Pacific region overall, with the combined expertise and experience of Fitzmaurice and Gelson adding significantly to the technology company’s capabilities as a solutions provider to its mining and tunnelling customers.
