Ninth miner diagnosed with Black Lung

Another miner has been diagnosed with Black Lung.

A 62 year old underground coal miner, who works in the Bowen Basin, has been confirmed as suffering from Coal Workers’ Pneumoconiosis (CWP).

“A confirmed case is where a positive identification of coal worker’s pneumoconiosis has been reported to the Health Surveillance Unit of the Department of Natural Resources and Mines by the coal mine worker’s Nominated Medical Advisor or other medical expert and validated by the department’s occupational physician,” a QLD Department of Natural Resources & Mines told Australian Mining.

The CFMEU has been contacted for additional comment.
