Nikki Williams to take top coal association job

Nikki Williams will leave the NSW Minerals Council in October to begin her new role as CEO of the Australian Coal Association.

NSW Minerals Council chairman and Xstrata Coal group executive Mick Buffier thanked Williams for contribution to the industry in NSW.

“Nikki has been a strong voice for the industry and the business community, fighting hard for sensible government policies that encourage investment rather than deter it,” he explained.

“From supporting the current government’s Work Health and Safety Act and calling for more infrastructure investment in mining regions to defending the industry against policies like the previously proposed industrial manslaughter laws and the Resources Super Profits Tax – Nikki has led the way.”

Buffier also labelled Williams a champion of the community, in particular highlighting her part in the Upper Hunter Mining Dialogue in which miners come together with the government and the community to address the cumulative impacts of the Hunter Valley’s growing mining industry.
