MRS Services moves into voluntary administration

Management Resource Solutions (MRS) Services Group, a mining services business with 400 workers across Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Queensland, has gone into voluntary administration.

MRS Services Group has appointed specialist insolvency firm, Jirsch Sutherland, as an administrator.

Jirsch Sutherland national managing partner Bradd Morelli said investigations were ongoing and that it was too early to provide information on the overall financial position of the MRS Group.

The administration also extends to Holdings (MRS), Backmann Plant Hire, MRS Services Group, MRS Property No1 and Management Resources Solutions.

The voluntary administrator told Australian Mining that it was working with MRS Group directors.

The company intends to continue trading on the business of the MRS Services Group during the administration period and has started contacting and meeting with all key customers and suppliers, according to a Jirsch Sutherland media statement.

“The voluntary administrators are hopeful that the business will survive and continue post administration,” a media statement read.

MRS is a provider of maintenance, mining, civil and labour support to the mining sector.

MRS Services Group, formerly SubZero Group, was founded in May 1999 in Muswellbrook. MRS acquired SubZero, the holder of a supplementary labour hire contract with Bengalla Mining Company and a 50 per cent interest in a light vehicle mechanical business in Moranbah, Queensland.

The tender process resulted in the labour hire contract being provided to another provider, and SubZero labour services employees made redundant.
