More strikes for Aurizon rail workers

Aurizon employees have announced further strikes for the rail carrier in Queensland.

24-hour stoppages will commence on Friday 20 February at the Bluff, Stanwell, Callemondah and Pring depots, according to Gladstone Observer.

Stoppages will also occur on Monday 23 February at Jilalan and Coppabella depots near Mackay.

Aurizon train drivers went on strike at Jilalan in early January, after 18 months of negotiation between the Rail Tram and Bus Union and Aurizon.

RTBU state president Bruce Mackie said Aurizon bypassed the collective bargaining process late last year by sending a draft agreement to the workplace for vote without consultation with the union.
