More cruise ships set for Port Hedland

Five cruise ships have already booked visits to Port Hedland next financial year, with the iron ore hub's 'red gold' rising in international popularity.

Port Hedland is one of the world's largest bulk commodity ports, and the main export route for a large portion of Pilbara iron ore production.

The port's biggest player is BHP Billiton, which is eyeing a $10 billion expansion to the facility in the form of an outer harbour expansion.

A number of cruise ships have already visited Port Hedland, and caused a stir in the normally quiet rural town.
