Monadelphous has won two contracts for Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations in the Pilbara.
The agreements give Mondalephous preferred contractor status for a program of structural and mechanical piping (SMP) work and electrical work over the next five years.
It will see the contractor be part of Rio Tinto’s massive iron ore expansions, in particular the coastal and eastern streams of the program.
Part of the contract is early contract involvement, which enables Monadelphous to work with Rio in the early states of the projects to contribute to design and constructability and early coast and schedule developments.
In addition to the build contracts, the agreements also give "visibility of a stream of projects and continuity work…which will allow for longer term resource planning and optimisation while continuity of work will assist employee retention".
These latest contracts follow two earlier construction contracts awarded to Monadelphous by Rio for the program.
In September last year it secured a structural and mechanical construction contract for the Hope Downs 4 iron ore project, and in November was awarded a SMP works contract for the installation of a new screen at the Cape Lambert Port B project.
