Monadelphous has won a $320 million contract for construction and maintenance work at Rio Tinto's iron ore operations in the Pilbara.
According to the company, the construction contract involves structural, mechanical, and piping works for Rio Tinto's Marandoo mine Phase 2 expansion project, which is around 45 kilometres east of its Tom Price mine.
This latest contract is part of Monadelphous' wider framework agreement with Rio for its broader 333 expansion plans to dramatically increase its iron ore output in the Pilbara.
Work on the Marandoo project has already begun, and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of next year.
Monadelphous has also been awarded three year extensions to two shutdown and maintenance service contracts for Rio's coastal and inland west operations.
"We're pleased to continue our extensive support for Rio Tinto in the Pilbara through the ongoing maintenance work and our first contract under the framework agreements," Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri said.
