ASX-listed MMG has reported a mine death at its Las Bambas copper operation.
The company announced last week that the worker was fatally injured after the haul truck he was driving at the Peruvian mine left the road near its Ferrobamba pit in early October.
MMG said the driver was found following a search and rescue effort, which commenced immediately after the accident.
The company has launched an investigation into the incident.
“We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Mr Castro’s family, and those nearest to him, at this difficult time,” MMG said in a statement.
“The company is supporting the family of the deceased employee. Counselling and support services will be provided to the employee’s colleagues at the operation.”
