Mining truck wins WA sculpture prize

A foam replica of a dump truck has won Western Australia's Sculpture by the Sea competition.

A foam replica of a dump truck has won Western Australia’s Sculpture by the Sea competition.

The sculpture, created by Paul Caporn, is entitled dump and a metaphor for the WA mining boom, according to the West Australian.

Caporn’s work appears to be struggling under the weight of its own load.

According to the West, the piece is accompanied by the statement: "Overloading a system eventually leads to its failure".

Caporn added that the sculpture was damaged during its showing last year.

Alcoa is a major sponsor of the event.
