Mining equipment smashes tour bus

A group of tourists in the Pilbara have escaped serious injury after mining equipment came off a road train and smashed into their tour bus.

The West Australian reports the tourists were heading to Tom Price when an equipment load from the back of a truck came loose.

The giant machinery was launched off the truck and into the tour bus.

According to The West Australian the bus driver swerved to avoid the flying machinery but the front and sides of the bus were crushed.

While the bus was a write-off none of the 13 people on board were injured.

A spokesperson for Aussie Wanderers, the organisation leading the tourists, said while the travelers were shaken they were unharmed.

“I think it is a good lesson that needs to be reinforced; trucks and road train operators need to check their loads before heading off on the road,” he said.
