A Miners Memorial Day, commemorating the lives of more than 1450 miners who have died in Queensland mining tragedies, will be held on the 19 September.

The Memorial Day, held by the Queensland Government, will shine a light on the most important side of mining — the safety and health of all miners.

It will be held on the anniversary of the worst mining disaster in Queensland’s history — the Mount Mulligan mining disaster of 1921.

The event, which will be held at Forest Meadow, Roma Street Parklands, Parkland Boulevard Brisbane from 10:30am, is open to all members of the community.

RSVP by Friday 12 September to Amanda Bell, at amanda.bell@dme.qld.gov.au, or by phone on 07 3247 4642.
