A development company is planning a large regional housing and industrial development outside of Port Augusta, South Australia.

The construction company, JKLT Ltd, is aiming to begin construction of an initial 3600 houses late next year.

It sees Port August as an ideal place to expand housing, due to its position as a mining cross roads and ability to support the State’s predicted boom.

“Basically everything has to pass through Port Augusta to get to the major mining precincts so for me it’s really the ideal spot for this development,” JKLT owner Pat Cheetham said.
