Mincor keeps Widgiemooltha gold production on schedule

Mincor Resources is on track to start full-scale mining operations at the Widgiemooltha gold project in Western Australia this quarter.

The Perth-based company’s board has approved pre-production activities at the operation, keeping its plans for full-scale operations on schedule.

Mincor’s pre-production activities at Widgiemooltha, which will be launched this week, include site earthworks, grade control drilling and associated earthworks.

Kalgoorlie-based contractor, Goldfields Technical Services, has been appointed to provide project management and technical services at the site.

Hampton Mining and Civil Services, another Kalgoorlie-based mining contractor, has been appointed to carry out pre-production earthworks.

Mincor managing director Peter Muccilli described the approval as another significant milestone as the company progressed towards gold production at Widgiemooltha.

“It’s an exciting period for the company on a number of fronts, with our 2018 nickel exploration drilling programs and gold pre-production activities both under way,” Muccilli said.

Mincor is finalising its major contracts to enable a final mining decision at Widgiemooltha, it added in an ASX announcement. The company upgraded its Widgiemooltha mineral resources to 267,000oz gold during the December 2017 quarter.
