Metso launches new rock breakers for primary crushers

Metso has developed a new rock breaker series for primary stationary crushing.

Dubbed the Metso MH-Series hammers and MB-series booms, they include five boom-hammer combinations for jaw crushers and one for primary gyratory crushers.

It utilises Metso’s hammer-boom combination, introducing it to stationary aggregates production and mining applications, bringing in this combination for primary stationary crushing stationson the back of customer demand.

These rock breakers are most commonly used to break oversized rocks fed into the crusher, and help to clear the cavity.

"Today, safety at work is undeniably the number one issue within the construction and mining industries. The remotely controlled hammer-boom combination provides, without a doubt, the safest solution for clearing clogged crusher cavities," Ilkka Somero, product manager for Metso rock breaker solutions, said.

The hammers weights range between 400 kilograms to 2.2 tonnes, with power ratings of between 18kW and 45kW.
