Mastermyne was last week awarded a roadway development contract at Whitehaven Coal’s Narrabri mine in New South Wales.
Whitehaven has engaged Mastermyne to undertake roadway development in the gate roads, including initial set up work and conveyor installations.
The project will mobilise from October 2017, with the scope of works including the full management and supply of equipment and skilled personnel to execute the works under the contract.
According to Mastermyne, the contract will employ 55 people and span around 18 months, generating about $33 million in revenue.
Mastermyne chief executive Tony Caruso said the company was looking forward to building a strong working relationship with Whitehaven at the Narrabri coal operations.
“This project builds on the already very strong order book we have for FY2018 with further opportunities still in the pipeline,” Caruso said.
Mastermyne will deploy a continuous miner and ancillary development equipment from its own fleet for the Whitehaven project.
The company has now placed three continuous miners into operation at various mines in 2017.
