The ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey, a national employment survey covering the first quarter of 2018, has reported that mining and construction are leading a burgeoning job market in Australia.
All states, territories, sectors and organisations have recorded positive outlooks for 2018, with mining and construction showing the strongest year-on-year gain of any job sector overall, 16 per cent up on the previous year, with an overall employment outlook gain of 23 per cent overall (including 15 per cent in Queensland and nine per cent in Western Australia).
Australia in general also recorded the third-strongest year-on-year gain of over 43 surveyed countries. Richard Fischer, Australia and New Zealand managing director for ManpowerGroup, stated that the data showed the overall strength of Australia’s economy.
“The employment outlook in Australia is now the strongest reported in more than six years and is showing no signs of slowing down as a rebound in the mining and construction sector adds to an already strong outlook in other key sectors such as finance,” he explained.
