Man killed at a Queensland metal refinery

A man has died at Sun Metals’ zinc refinery after becoming trapped under a hydraulic arm.

Emergency crews were called to the refinery, located 13km south of Townsville, at about 8:40am on Saturday after reports a worker was trapped.

The 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Workplace Health and Safety and the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the incident.

Australian Mining has approached Sun Metals for comment.
