Man dies in mining roadtrain accident

A man has died after his car collided with a roadtrain carrying mineral sands.

The incident occurred early last night on the Brand Highawy, south of Geraldton, in Western Australia when the man's car collided with the roadtrain, according to the ABC.

The 52 year old driver of the vehicle died at the scene after his car caught alight.

A witness attempted to pull the man from the flaming vehicle but was unable to remove him from the car.

The driver of the mineral sands roadtrain also had to be cut from the wreckage, and has since been taken to hospital.

The roadtrain's load also split, spreading minerals sands across the road and forcing closure of the Brand Highway for a number of hours.
