MACS Engineering sold to Sci-Fleet Group

Mackay engineering company and manufacturer MACS Engineering was yesterday saved from liquidation when it was purchased by Sci-Fleet Group.

The Mackay Daily Mercury reports that Sci-Fleet Group, a family-owned business based in Queensland is Australia’s largest selling Toyota dealership.

MACS will continue to operate from its current base in Mackay.

The company went into voluntary administration late last year and its premises in both Mackay and Caboolture closed, leaving 76 employees out of work.

According to the Mercury, it was expected yesterday that administrators would  recommend MACS Engineering be put into liquidation. So Sci-Fleet’s decision to buy the company saved the company from this fate.

Sci-Fleet Group CEO Jarrod Marshall said he was confident that MACS would be a success.

“MACS will continue to operate in Mackay, providing jobs and supporting local industry that has relied on it for almost 50 years,” Marshall said.

“I am pleased to say we plan to re-employ up to 50 staff for now, with more to follow later once sales pick up. I have been very impressed at the passion they have for working in the MACS business.”
