Lulo Diamonds first sale of 2017 reaches nearly $5 million

Lucapa Diamonds has recorded almost $5 million worth of sales from its Lulo operation in Angola to kick off 2017.

The company, along with partners Empresa Nacional de Diamantes and Rosas & Petalas completed the sale of the diamonds for $4.9 million.

A parcel of 2946 carats of Lulo diamonds sold for an average price of $1671 per carat. They consisted of diamonds discovered until December 31 and included a 75-carat and 55-carat diamond.

The diamonds were sold by Lulo alluvial diamond mining company Sociedade Mineira Do Lulo – 40 per cent owned and operated by Lucapa – through the Angolan Government’s diamond arm SODIAM.

The diamonds in this sale were the first to be cleaned by the new diamond deep boiling facility Lulo installed in December last year.
