Leighton handed contract extension

Leighton Mining has been awarded a three-year $300 million contract extension by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) to continue work at the Peak Downs Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

Leighton Mining has been awarded a three-year $300 million contract extension by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) to continue work at the Peak Downs Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

The company will undertake project management, surface mining, engineering and maintenance work.

The deal brings the value of recent coal contract extensions to over $800 million, following a $350 million extension to Duralie in June and $160 million to Moorvale in May.
