Lego develops Bucket Wheel Excavator set

Lego has developed a new mining set, a fully operational bucket wheel excavator.

Launched at the International Toy Fair in Germany, the fully motorised set – part of the Technic range – has close to 4000 pieces and comes with a small dump truck as part of the package.

It is able to tram around on a working track – albeit slowly – and has an operational conveyor and moveable discharge conveyor system.

It can also reportedly be rebuilt into a processing plant.

The set, which has no release date as yet for Australia, is valued at approximately $460.

This is not the first mining focused set Lego has developed, having previously released a number of working excavators, dump trucks, mobile cranes, and LHDs as well as an entire gold mine.

Shell also created a massive Lego model of its Prelude FLNG ship, whilst Arrow Energy used Lego models to demonstrate how its CSG operations worked.
