Komatsu Australia has signed a three-year freight forwarding contract with DB Schenker to import equipment into Australia from Germany, Belgium, Indonesia, Norway, and the United States.
Under the deal, DB Schenker will arrange all customs clearance and deliveries on behalf of Komatsu – a key element of the company’s spare parts support for its machines.
Deliveries will be made by air and ocean freight for mining, construction, quarrying and local government customers throughout Australia.
DB Schenker’s SCOUT platform – which provides cloud-based tracking and management of deliveries – will also provide order and vendor management, including clearly-defined lead times and key performance indicators (KPIs).
The companies will ship substantial amounts of full container load (FCL) movements and regular air-freight, with this amount set to increase as the mining sector picks up.
