Kids run riot on New Caledonian mine site, cause serious damage [PICTURES]

The Nakéty Mine Centre in New Caledonia has been the target of vandals who upturned mining equipment, drove excavators into dams, crushed light vehicles and set fire to offices.

Located on the south shore of the eponymous bay in the municipality of Canala, it is believed the mine was the target of vandals at the weekend after they broke into the site.

According to Les Nouvelles Calédoniennes, a New Caledonian news site, it was first thought the vandalism was caused by a group of children, but with the scope of the damage this theory is being questioned.

Police are said to be investigating the incident.
