OPTALERT has released a world-first range of driving glasses that are scientifically proven to alert a driver of impending drowsiness.
General manager for sales and marketing John Prendergast told Australian Mining the driving glasses were researched and developed for 13 years before finally being released.
“The glasses are customised to ensure maximum comfort and accuracy in pinpointing drowsiness,” he said.
Optalert works by measuring the driver’s eyelid movement while wearing fitted Optalert driving glasses.
Whenever Optalert detects drowsiness, and usually before the driver becomes aware of it, a loud beeping noise and a voice-message will warn the driver, enabling them to take immediate action to stay alert.
Scientifically proven to alert a driver before drowsiness sets in, the glasses are employed by some of Australia’s largest mining companies.
