Kal Tire has opened a new mining tyre repair facility in Muswellbrook, the first of a number of expansions it plans in eastern Australia.
“Kal Tire has been supporting the Western Australian mining industry for many years, and we’re keen to bring more of our services to customers on the East Coast,” Kal Tire Australia managing director Darren Flint said.
Located in a mining hub in Muswellbrook, the facility will continue to repair mining tyres that were serviced at the site when it was operated by former owners Goodyear.
The facility, which opened April 1, spans around 10,000 metres, covering 8000 square meters of hardstand; 1500 square metres of workshop space, and the remainder comprising office space and a carpark.
According to Kal Tire technicians can have up to eight tyre stands in operation at one time, with the capability of handling tyres up to 63 inches.
This facility allows us to bring to NSW the same approach to tyre management we employ around the world, Flint said.
The opening of the new facility comes ahead of Kal Tire’s release of its Ultra Repair technology for ultra-class mining truck tyres.
This process involves replacing steel belts inside ultra-class tyres, restoring original strength, and performance of damaged ultra-class tyres.
