Pilbara Ports throughput up three per cent

The Pilbara Ports Authority has noted a total monthly throughput of 55 million tonnes (Mt) for April this year, a three per cent increase from the same month in 2016.

The port of Port Hedland reached a monthly throughput of 42.9Mt, a 13 per cent jump from last year.

Iron ore exports had a 12 per cent rise, totalling 42.2Mt for the month.

Imports also increased, rising 10 percent from the same month last year.

Total monthly throughput at the Port of Dampier decreased, dropping 22 per cent to 12.1Mt. However, imports had a three per cent rise from the previous year, reaching 77,000 tonnes.
