Industrea wins Xstrata Black Star mine contract renewal

Industrea has signed a renewal contract with Xstrata for equipment hire at the Black Star open cut mine.

Worth approximately $132 million in minimum revenue hours, the contract will run until December next year.

It will see Industrea provide equipment hire, service, and support.

Industrea managing director Robin Levison said this renewal was for the existing fleet of equipment at improved rates.

"We’ve enjoyed a long term relationship with Xstrata in Mt Isa for its Black Star open cut mine having provided equipment and services at the site since 2004, so it is pleasing to see this renewal out to December 2013 which demonstrates the importance of the Mt Isa region as the place where Industrea was founded," Levison said.

He went on to say that with the commitment to maintenance of the existing fleet "we are confident of achieving revenue over the life of the two year contract well in excess of the minimum hours subject to operational requirements of the Black Star open cut mine."

Late last year Industrea also won an extension to its equipment hire contract at the Lady Annie mine.
