Hunter Valley coal miner shoots for gold at Glasgow

A truck driver from the Mt Thorley-Warkworth mine has won gold for Australia at the Commonwealth games in the 10m Air Pistol event.

The 202cm tall Daniel Repacholi defeated India by 1.3 points on Saturday, with 199.5 points in the 20-shot, eight man elimination final.

Repacholi has twice before taken bronze, and gold once at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

The win was the third gold medal for Hunter Valley athletes in Glasgow over the weekend.

The 32 year-old from Nulkaba won bronze last night in the 50m pistol event, behind India winning gold and silver.

Repacholi took broze with 166.6 points, only 0.4 behind the silver score of 170, and gold placing with 174.1 points.
